Hi my name is Hip Hop: Trezmatiq

I’ve always believed in giving credit where credit is due, so I gotta show some love to what I believe is one of the fweshest hip hop groups locally.
Hailing from M-City (Midrand) is a crew (well more like a fam) named Trezmatiq, which consists of four members Trez, College Boy, Nu-Meric and Pillar. Trezmatiq’s sound is what South African hip hop acts need to get familiar with. Their mixture of college boy rap, storytelling, rnb and who could forget the beats, is what sets this group apart from any other act in South Africa. Their music is so on point, that it has replaced Wiz Khalifa (no comparison Wiz is still king) on my playlist. All four of the members contribute to the Trezmatiq sound in their own individual way and shine in their own light; here is a lil something on each member.

Trez

Trez is the fam’s producer. He’s beats are a fusion of rnb, soul, rock and of course hip hop. He is also a talented singer and did damage on the track he made titled “Selfish”, which has since become one of my favourite hip hop/ rnb joints.

College Boy

While most people may know him from the Krump fam 300, this young lad’s talents spread far more than just doing damage on the dance floor. His rap style is more on that laidback, college steez with a hot mixture of paper plane hustle that’s heard in most of today’s hip hop freshmen class rappers like Big Sean, Mac Miller and the likes.

Nu-Meric

Don’t get ish twisted this is no Vanilla Ice or even Eminem, but this is surely one talent “white” (hate to say that) rapper to take note of. His sound is one of is own, mixing real life story telling with a swaggful flow, which is witnessed on his tracks like “Hello World” and “Earth’s Angel” which is in memory of his friend who passed away early in 2010.

Pillar Boi 1-Da

Last but definitely not least is Pillar who was born in Texas, USA. His sound is harder than the rest; reminisces of gangster hip hop that was popular in the early 2000’s with a mixture of club bangers. He brings a real hardcore feel to the group with his lyrical content about his life’s hardship and his aspirations in finding a way out.
