50 launches Sleek headphones
Bringing competition to Beats headphones by Dr.Dre is 50’s new line of headphones called Sleek. The headphone are said to be the first headphones to offer Wireless Hybrid Technology using military grade metal. The whole headphones thing seems to becoming a trend in hip hop now, with Ludacris also dropping his own headphones line called Soul Headphones, which are expected to drop around March this year.
Timbo Thursday
Another growing trend in hip hop especially amongst producers is the trend to have a day on which they release free music to their fans. The first was Kanye and his G.O.O.D Fridays then Swizz Beatz and his Monster Mondays now it’s big time producer Timbaland and his Timbo Thursday which begins on Thursday 13 January 2011. Lil Kim’s Nicki Minaj look-a-like
The beef between hip hop’s veteran queen b Lil Kim and hip hop’s current leading lady Nicki Minaj continues, with Lil Kim taking it a step further. In her new music video for the tracks “Clap, clap/ Black Friday”, Lil Kim cast a Nicki Minaj look a like. I can’t wait to see the video drop to see what role they got Nicki Minaj’s clone playing.
Jay-z buys Buffalo Wings & Things
Adding to his already multi-million dollar empire is Forbes hip hop king Jay-z. He recently invested in a Brooklyn based Buffalo wings restaurant called Buffalo Wings & Things. Jay-z is said to be keeping the new business venture in the family y having his mother Gloria Carter and sister Andrea Carter as business partners in the venture. Wonder if he may rename it to maybe... uhm Jigga Wings & Things.
Biggie’s murder case reopened
Nearly 14 years after the tragic death of hip hop legends Notorious B.I.G’s death, police have reopened the case due to new evidence. Originally it was said that a single man ran up to Biggie’s window and shot the rapper while he sat in the passenger seat of his car. The police haven’t spoken much about what the new evidence is except that the case has been reopened. Hopefully they can finally solve one of hip hop’s biggest cold cases.
Another Shady production by Eminem
2010’s biggest rapper Eminem is returning to the big screen after almost ten years since his biographical movie 8 mile. The rapper is said to be starring in an upcoming thriller titled Random Acts Of Violence, which is a Shady Films production. Hmmm do I hear another Oscar nomination
